Cut Notes for Final Cut Pro Rocks Post Production

Cut-Notes-from-Joke-And-Biagio-Blog.jpg

I still remember the day Nate Orloff, our assistant editor, came in with his iPad. It was geek-out-at-first-sight. Everyone in the office was excited, myself included. I am a geek, after all, and the iPad was truly Geek-a-licious.

Nate and I even put together a short video showing how to write a screenplay on an iPad using Pages and a screenwriting template we made (this was before there was a plethora of screenwriting apps on the App Store).

When Nate told me his idea for an iPad app called Cut Notes, I was jazzed. It’s only appropriate that Nate found Jon Chappell of Digital Rebellion the same way I found Nate, via Twitter. They partnered up last fall and a few weeks ago, released version v1.0 of Cut Notes for iPad.

Free Film Festival Secrets

Just a quick post to tell you about an incredible free resource we stumbled upon recently. It’s the site of Christopher Holland, Film Festival Secrets
.

Not only is his site jam-packed with information to give you film festival success, but Mr. Holland has written a free e-book that is the must-download free e-book of the decade (excuse my enthusiasm, but it’s terrific.)

Click here to download the full, free e-book, Film Festival Secrets from Christopher’s site.

You Can Also Get the Hard Copy

If you love the free ebook so much that you’d like to show Christopher your gratitude, you can buy the hard copy of Film Festival Secrets: A Handbook For Independent Filmmakers. (WARNING: That’s our Amazon account, so if you get it here, you’re supporting our indy doc Dying to do Letterman.)

In the mean time, if you have your shiny new iPad, and want to write a screenplay in full on iPad mode…what to do?

New Screenplay Template for iWork: Free.

There are some great screenwriting programs out there, both free and paid. Final Draft is known to be the Hollywood standard for paid apps, and the do-it-all-in-one-app-for-free phenom Celtx is a must try. It’s free, after all, and it works like a real screenwriting program (if not feeling the most “Mac” like.)

Here’s another option you might like to try, that turned out a little better than I expected.
