The Twitter Rapture from Joke and Biagio

If you haven’t already heard, we (and by we, I mean me, Biagio) accidentally unfollowed a bunch of you — including super-star actor @Michael_Rooker — when I was trying to unfollow a lot of “dead accounts” (like people who hadn’t tweeted in 10 months, etc.) Haven’t really tried that before, and after two years of tweetin’, there were a bunch.

Well, a couple wrong keystrokes and there went about 300 REAL followers.

And that’s when I knew there was at least one rapture today. I sent a bunch of you to Twitter heaven. (And yes, @VegasWalkinDude I’m stealing your line.)

Joke and Biagio on the Radio Today (Sunday) with Film Courage Noon PST

Joke Fincioen Biagio Messina on Film Courage with David Branin and Karen Worden

They’ve sat down with legends like John Sayles, Ted Hope,
and indie up-and-comers like Gary King and Julie Keck and Jessica King.

And now…well, you read the title of this post :-)

Today (Sunday May 1) we’ll be live at the Film Courage studios at 12 noon PST, 3pm EST.

Not Ashamed to Admit…

…been hoping some day we’d get to visit Film Courage. To us, the show and the people running it (David Branin and Karen Worden) represent everything we love about indie filmmaking.

Film Courage guests speak their minds…no corporate bull. No PR spin. As David and Karen put it themselves, they

“…explore the psychology and passion of filmmakers in their dealings with rejection, adversity, and the criticism they face on a daily basis.”

Sounds like we’ll have plenty to talk about!

A Great Show For Any Indie

If you want to work in the movie business…especailly this brave new world of what the movie business is becoming…you need to be listening to Film Courage (and not just because we’re on!)

We love traveling around with Dying to do Letterman. We’ve met so many of you in person, sharing meals, swapping stories, and getting to know each other better.

The best part of making friends on Twitter, via our Facebook page, and here at the Joke and Biagio blog is eventually getting face to face time with all of you.

So we hope we’ll get to meet even more of you in person at our upcoming screenings, like we have @Chipstreet, @JustinWHedges, @endmike1, @Steveology, just to name a few.

Stay tuned for all the details. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, follow Dying to do Letterman on Twitter, or sign up for the official movie newsletter here for the latest breaking news.

Hope to see you there!

Final Cut Pro X $299. Ships in June.

Holy Cow. $299 for Final Cut Pro X. Downloads directly to your computer. Available in June. Apple is making a huge statement: we want to rule the editing universe.

If you’ve been around this blog, you know that we have some pretty heavy-duty uses for Final Cut Pro. I edited Dying to do Letterman on FCP, the entire Scream Queens series was edited on Final Cut Pro, and we’ve pretty much built our company on the software.

A Brand New Look and Feel

Photos like this are floating around the web:
The New FCPX Interface #FCP #SuperMeet #apple<br />
 on Twitpic

That’s a very different looking interface. Still, I’m excited about all the changes. Most interesting to me:

  • Big improvements in working with audio
  • 4k editing
  • no more rendering
  • native editing of DSLR footage
  • auto-syncing of multiple cameras

The list goes on. Apple still hasn’t updated their site, so waiting for the official list to pop up.

But this really is a NEW Final Cut Pro…different in every way. So I’m anxious to see how this new version will change my personal editing style.

What do you think? Planning on upgrading? While it’s all very exciting, as always, it’s not the tool, it’s the user that makes a great edit. But nice tools do help.

More to come…
