This dude is the man! He sounds like my ex-marine father telling me to get out and make it happen. I couldn't agree more. I especially like his reference to foregoing beer and new clothes money. In order to make Self Helpless we basically embraced a monastic lifestyle. No girls, no travel, no partying for over a year. It was the only way we could really make it happen.

The reality is that not everyone has the talent to make a film. Many of the people who have the talent don't have the necessary "get it done" capabilities. If you think you have the skills, put down the bong, dump your girlfriend (or better yet, cast her), and make the damned movie. Don't take a loan or a second mortgage, don't expect to make a dime back, and don't expect to get discovered. Do it because you want to create something great, and something that is truly yours. If it turns out to be the real deal, and if you work hard enough, then hopefully your film will reach an audience. Awesome video.

I dont like complainers. Moaners. If you cant make your own calling card movie today, you will NEVER be a filmmaker. You have to be the most absurd optimist. Making the movie now is the easy part, getting it out there is tough, so if you cant even do the production, forget it.

Its still hard to believe people need this advice, but I come across people who are looking for a big budget, and they have never even made a film before! I dont think they get, making small films is your "apprenticeship" Somethihg that has dissapeared since the access to cheap tools.

All always, great advice from Joke & Biagio

Respect
