Steve was told he had incurable liver cancer, and might only have five years to live.
He gave the middle finger to cancer, and decided to live his dream instead. The same dream Steve had ever since he was twelve years old.

To perform stand-up comedy on David Letterman’s show.
We Filmed him for Five Years
Everyone said Steve’s dream was impossible. Naysayers accused him of wasting the little time he had left. Some even pitied Steve.
Steve didn’t care.
He Said He Would Live His Dream or Die Trying
Well, he’s still alive, and our movie is done. So, along with Steve, we’ve hopped on the “underdog train.” We’ve made a tiny movie with a big message, “It’s not how much time you have, it’s what you do with it.”
